Churches

It's really important that Christians are a part of a gospel-centred body of believers that meet together to hear God's word read and explained (1), encourage each other in the Christian life (2), and to be accountable to the authority of set-aside, mature leaders (3).

The Christian Union cannot fulfil these responsibilities, but churches can. Oxford is blessed with lots of great churches — check here for some of the churches that CU members attend that we can highly recommend!

Have a look at their websites and try out a couple, but do your best to make a decision and get stuck in as soon as you can.

As much as we hope that you'll be able to join us in our efforts to share the fantastic news of Christ crucified (4) with the University, we understand that Oxford life can get really busy. If you can't commit to both an Oxford church and the CU, we'd strongly encourage you to prioritise being a part of your church's Sunday meetings and midweek Bible studies (or your church's equivalent) over coming to CU meetings.

www.loveoxfordstudents.co.uk is an incredible collaboration between many of the churches in Oxford, detailing each and giving lots of different options, intended to make it as easy as possible for students to get connected and feel that they belong to a church in Oxford. It is an easy way to browse and explore what's happening.

We are also running the OICCU trychurch campaign. If you feel at all uncomfortable or apprehensive about going to church, or you would just like to have some company, trychurch will link you up with someone so that you can chat about church and/or go together.
